Construction of a TGV station bypassing Nîmes

As part of the railway bypass project for Nîmes and Montpellier, a new station is being built at the intersection of the Paris-Barcelona high-speed line and the regional TER lines serving the South of France.

In a region where heatwaves and the Mistral wind are common, ensuring comfort and energy efficiency throughout the year is crucial. The station is designed as a large volume with a shading structure that filters light. The roof is covered with exterior metal sunshades, supplemented by an interior ceiling formed by a network of 4cm diameter bamboo rods. The prominent roof overhangs help protect the facades. When necessary due to the orientation of these facades, bamboo sunshade panels, identical to those of the ceiling, are installed on the exterior.

The entire design is designed to allow abundant ventilation of the interior spaces during the summer months.
