Amfreville Footbridge
The new structure replaces an existing footbridge that crosses the Seine at the Poses-Amfreville-sous-les-Monts lock. The Poses-Amfreville dam is located on the left bank, while the lock is on the right bank. The central channel is disused and has been filled in.
River traffic through the lock is heavy, particularly due to freight heading to and from the Paris region. The existing footbridge offers an air draught of around 9 m, which limits passage to vessels carrying a maximum of three tiers of containers. The new footbridge will allow four-tier vessels to pass, as do most structures on the lower Seine.
The planned footbridge will consist of a steel box girder of variable width and depth, designed to adapt to the constraints of lock operations. The new structure will improve user comfort while blending harmoniously into the site’s landscape.
